The Dragon cross country teams traveled to Rosecran Memorial Airport on Tuesday to run in the Duane Kimball Invite hosted by Benton HS. Due to the heat index being at dangerous levels, the meet was moved back two hours. The time change was beneficial to the runners and many personal records for the season were broken.
For the first time this season, the varsity girls competed as a team. Individually Alyissa Kleinsorge (23:33.0) finished 7th, Gracie Livengood (23:39.6) placed 10th and Britlyn deJong (24.07.6) was 14th. The team posted 5 times to finish in 2nd place behind St. Joseph Christian. First time runner, Soncea Kneib said, “It was great to win as a team. I just wish I would have contributed more by placing in the top 15.”
Braden Hirschi placed 15th with a time of 19.56.6 and Tanner Hirschi, Bryce Batliner, Miguel Canchola, Lionso Canchola and Zander Kountz set personal records for the 2018 season. The next meet will be September 25th at Rockport.
